These terms and conditions are applicable to our website and to orders and sale transactions for products available at our online shop.
By accessing this website and/or by placing an order through the online shop you agree to be bound by and accept the terms and conditions set out below. If you do not agree to be bound by these conditions you may not use or access this website.
With regard to your purchases on the online shop we will communicate electronically by sending email or posting electronically. You agree that all agreements, notices, disclosures and other communications provided electronically satisfy any legal requirement that such communications be in writing.
Before you place an order, if you have any questions relating to these terms and conditions please contact customer care.
The Terms and conditions apply to the sale of products and services from Universefood.no. The Terms and conditions together with your order and order confirmation constitute the total contract basis for the purchase. The Terms and conditions and other information on Universefood.no are mainly only available in English, with the exception of some product information that may be available in Tamil.
There are currently only adult persons over the age of 18 who can buy products at Universefood.no.
Consumer purchases are regulated in Norwegian law, including in the Consumer Purchase Act(forbrukerkjøpsloven), the Right of Withdrawal Act(angrerettloven), the Marketing Act( markedsføringsloven), the Personal Data Act(personopplysningsloven), the e-commerce Act( e-handelsloven), and the EU regulation, the Food Information regulation(Matinformasjonsforordningen).

The seller is: UNIVERSE FOOD AS, org. 922 204 985, Nedre måsan 24, 1385 Asker, and is hereinafter referred to as Universefood.no, seller, us or we. We can be contacted at customer care . The designation Universefood.no also refers to the online store as it appears at all times.
The buyer is: The person in question (private customer) who is registered as a buyer with us. Here we use the term buyer, customer, user, you, or yours.
Product photo accuracy
We try to display the products photos on our website as accurately as possible. But photos shown on the website will sometimes differ somehow from reality.
By placing an order, you warrant that the personal information that you are required to provide when you register as a customer is true, accurate, current and complete in all respects. You will notify us immediately of any changes to the personal information by contacting customer care. You agree not to impersonate any other person or entity or to use a false name or a name that you are not authorized to use.
To be able to order products you have to:
> Provide your full name and address, phone number, email address, payment details and other required information
> Be at least 18 years of age
> Provide a valid delivery address in one of the territories stated under «Shipping and delivery information» (note that UNIVERSE FOOD AS is unable to deliver to certain addresses, including but not limited to, P.O. Box addresses)
> Be the owner or authorized holder of a valid debit card, or holder of an account at a certified e-commerce payment service provider Bambora (VIPPS, VISA & MASTERCARD)
> State the specific list of products that you wish to purchase
Your order is binding when registered with us. When the order is registered, we confirm this by sending an order confirmation. If it turns out that we are out of stock for one or more products in your cart, we reserve the right to cancel the entire order or part of it. In such a situation, you will be informed of this, with information on whether we can offer replacement products, originally ordered products or orders with deferred delivery. In such a situation, it will be up to you to accept our offer of solution or to cancel the portion of the cart that is affected.
Please note: When you create an account at the online shop on www.universefood.no you will also create a personal user identification (your username) and password. Keep your password protected at all times and do not disclose it to anyone else as you are personally responsible for each purchase made using your user identification and password.
You place orders by following the instructions set out in the online shop.
The technical steps required to create the contract between you and us are as follows:
> You place the order for your products on the website by pressing the “Place order” button at the end of the check-out process. You will be guided through the process of placing an order by a series of simple instructions on the website.
> We will send you an order acknowledgement email with invoice detailing the products you have ordered within 3 days.
Order acceptance and the completion of the contract between you and us will take place on the dispatch to you of the products ordered unless we have notified you that we do not accept your order or you have cancelled it in accordance with our conditions set out below.
UNIVERSE FOOD AS reserves the right to refuse your order for any legitimate reason. Non-acceptance of an order may take place in the following circumstances:
If some of the items are no longer available or Out of stock from our supplier.
Customer care will contact you if some of the products brands are out of stock from storage, Universe Food will provide alternative brand of the same product if you accept it. Othewise Universe Food will refund the payment for the unavailable product for your order.
> Our inability to obtain authorisation for your payment.
> The identification of a pricing or product description error.
> You not meeting the eligibility to order criteria set out in the main the conditions of use.
If the order is accepted, we will send you an acknowledgement e-mail. Within 3 days we will send you a confirmation («UNIVERSE FOOD AS order confirmation») with order number, details of the items you have ordered and expected delivery time. Acceptance of your order and the formation of the contract between UNIVERSE FOOD AS and you will not take place unless and until you have received your UNIVERSE FOOD AS order confirmation. Before we have sent you this order confirmation, you may cancel your order at any stage by contacting UNIVERSE FOOD AS customer care.
Reservations are made for delivery denial, including refusal of sale of products beyond a certain number to the same person in a given period of time. If the delivery denial is made applicable, reservation of the purchase price will be released.
Delivery of your Ordered products takes place within the order page that you have entered in the order and to the address registered in the order. Universefood.no is responsible for the Ordered products until it is delivered to you.
Orders can only be accepted by an adult over 18 years of age.
Payment & Prices
Prices are stated in NOK on Universefood.no.
UNIVERSE FOOD AS will have to charge sales tax where required by law. If you are ordering from territories where sales tax is charged, appropriate charges will be added and displayed in your UNIVERSE FOOD AS order confirmation.
The total cost of your order is the price of the products ordered plus delivery charges as set out in shipping information.
UNIVERSE FOOD AS offers free handling on orders. There are no administrative charges or charges for the use of debit card or e-commerce payment in the purchase.
Total purchase price for each order is stated in the order summary includes packing, shipping, delivery, bags, etc.
Payment must be done by debit cards or through certified e-commerce payment service provider Bambora (VIPPS, VISA & MASTERCARD). If you pay by debit cards you must supply your payment card details when you place your order. All debit card purchases are subject to validation and credit checks.
Customers pay the purchase price for the order with a bank card (VISA or Mastercard) or Vipps via our website. The purchase price will be deducted from the card upon booking. Universefood.no uses the 3rd party payment gateway called ‘Bambora’ and bound to the terms of service. When using Universefood.no you also agree to be bound by Bambora Terms of service.
If there have been errors of significant size from Universefood.no’s site, in advertisements etc., or on Universefood.no which is greater than 15% of the normal retail price, Universefood.no makes reservations about being able to change, delete or reject unilaterally orders. This applies even if the customer has received the order confirmation or the like. In such a situation, it is incumbent upon Universefood.no to correct errors within a reasonable time after the error is discovered.
All items remain the property of UNIVERSE FOOD AS until paid for in full.
It is the prices that appear in the order page and that are registered, which apply when buying products. The prices on Universefood.no are updated frequently and we therefore reserve the right to change the price of products, partly as a result of price changes from our suppliers. If prices have been changed during the time that the customer has placed the products in the shopping cart, until the order has been registered, it is the price shown on Universefood.no when the order is registered which applies to the order.
Shipping and delivery information
The Universefood.no only delivers products within the following territory Asker, Bærum, Drammen. Please call customer care before ordering if you want to deliver in Oslo or any other places other than our territory. The Universefood.no does not deliver products outside of this territory currently.
Our delivery charge varies from zone to zone; it is based on the distance estimated from UNIVERSE FOOD AS warehouse (total distance). All orders will be shipped to the shipping address stated in the UNIVERSE FOOD AS order confirmation.
If the delivery of the Ordered products is delayed, we will make sure to inform you as soon as we have the opportunity, with information on when delivery can be made.
Lack of delivery because no one was present at the delivery address. We only deliver to addresses within the specified postal code in Norway.
Universefood.no delivers the ordered products to the address that the customer has registered. Because ordered products may contain refrigerated products, fresh products, freezer products and dry products, the customer must always be present in the delivery point to receive the ordered products.
If you are not present when we arrive, we will try to contact you at the telephone number you provided to clarify how delivery can be made. In certain cases, if it does not pose a risk to the quality of the ordered products content, you may be offered that the ordered products be placed on the delivery address. If you instead agree on a new time for delivery, there will be an additional shipping charge (same shipping charge as per your order) for extra delivery.
If the customer is not present at the time of delivery, and one cannot put the products back or agree on a new delivery time, the products are returned to our warehouse. Refrigerated products, fresh products and frozen products being returned are thrown away because we can no longer guarantee the quality of the products. The value of such products is charged to the customer, while usable products, such as dry products, will be credited to the value of the product. In such a situation, a return fee of NOK 50 will be charged to cover the costs of returning the ordered products and sorting out which products must be disposed of and which can be preserved (returned to the UNIVERSE FOOD AS’s stock). Any final value that exceeds the return fee will be refunded back to the customer’s account.
We aim to dispatch the order within the specified days and you should receive your goods within same day after the order has been shipped from our storage in Norway, depending on your shipping address.
Your shipping price will appear in your checkout page after you have entered your shipping address. You will receive the order confirmation by e-mail from Universefood.no.
You must notify us of any damages within same day of receipt of delivery. Any items not received must be advised within 1 hour of the dispatch confirmation e-mail in order that this can be investigated. Someone must be available to sign for the ordered products during delivery hours and this person should be known to you. We will not be responsible for which person signing for the products is not the person who has placed the order/paid for the products or if incorrect address details have been supplied.
Delivery will take place on every week Wednesday, Thursday and Friday between 16.30 – 22.00. These day and time may differ according to weather, season, festivals and holidays. But we will inform you in good enough time.
Orders placed within Sunday will be delivered between Wednesday to Friday as per delivery timing (16.30 to 22.00). If you want urgent delivery or on the same week, please call customer care before placing the order. We will try to find a solution for you.
The delivery person will call you before 10 to 30mins on arrival at shipping address. Products will be delivered at entrance of the building/apartment/house.
In order for you to shop at Universefood.no, we ask that you register a customer account with information about yourself. The person who is registered as a customer is responsible for paying for the products sold through Universefood.no.
The customer account can only apply to one person with associated personal information and user information.
When creating a customer account, you undertake to make sure that you create the customer account that is appropriate for your use, ie private account, state the correct and complete customer information and that you are authorized to act, including entering into binding agreements, on behalf of the person concerned, and make sure to keep the customer information up to date.
We reserve the right to close access to Universefood.no, change or delete content and cancel or withhold orders if we suspect that incorrect information has been provided.
Registered customers are responsible for keeping login information to their own customer account hidden from unauthorized persons.
It is up to you to report to Universefood.no customer care in case of suspicion that someone has gained access to your customer account.
To the extent that Universefood.no gives you access to view and use of shopping cart
We reserve the right to delete, remove or modify any and all content made available through Universefood.no, including the customer account itself, if we find that the content in question may violate Norwegian law, these conditions, the rights of others or may be perceived as offensive in any way.
Universefood.no is not responsible for any loss of data or content, or any other indirect loss or damage arising from the use of Universefood.no, or through our exercise of the above-mentioned reservations.
Universefood.no can offer price reductions and allowances in connection with special campaigns or the like.
The terms that apply to such campaigns may vary from campaign to campaign, and are disclosed in relation to each campaign.
Universefood.no is under no circumstances liable for price reductions or remuneration that expire on the date before they are used by the customer.
In case of suspicion of misuse of campaigns, adaptation etc. In order to acquire benefits for which the promotion was not intended, we reserve the right to refuse access to Universefood.no, withdraw the offered price reduction and not cover earned allowances, as well as to delete the customer account on which the attempt or abuse is based. further reservations are made that claims for compensation may be required for lost sales as a result of abuse.
Universefood.no is only responsible for the loss of value for the products if faults or defects have been detected. This does not apply, however, if we can show that the loss is caused by circumstances beyond Universefood.no’s control, and that we could not reasonably expect to avoid or overcome the consequences of.
Universefood.no is also not liable for indirect losses due to deficiencies, if such loss is not caused by gross negligence or intent on our part. In the case of consumer purchases, the terms cannot be poor than the terms of the Act, see the Consumer Purchase Act for further information.
The Consumer Purchase Act’s general rules for complaints apply to Universefood.no when selling to private customers.
We also guarantee the following:
If the Ordered products received, including individual products is not in accordance with the order confirmation, because products are missing, deteriorated, expired or have been damaged during delivery, you must have the choice to have a new products delivered in connection with a later delivery, or get the payment for the products in question credited to your user account.
You may cancel an order within 24 hours from the time that your original order was placed.
Please contact customer care by notifying us that you would like to have an order cancelled. Please make sure to supply us with detailed information (i.e. your name, your order number, etc.). You will be sent a confirmation message stating that we have cancelled the order within 3 days. The amount paid for the order will be returned within 10 days from the date of cancellation.
In case of withdrawal the benefits received for both parties are to be returned. A withdrawal is only possible if the products are still in the same state as when received. If the products have been used the right of withdrawal is no longer valid.
Returns should be made in the original, undamaged packaging. We recommend returning the products by registered/insured post as we will not be liable for any loss or damage incurred whilst returns are held by third parties. Refunds will be made once the items are received by UNIVERSE FOOD AS and a confirmation e-mail will be sent advising the refund amount.
UNIVERSE FOOD AS reserve the right to withhold a percentage of the refund value of returned goods if the product or packaging is in such a condition that the item needs to be reduced in price for resale. We will only refund the card from which the original payment was made. Please note that it usually takes 10 days to appear on your card statement. Please also note that in rare cases it can take up to 14 days.
Please note that refunds cannot be given on fresh and frozen products.
Incomplete or incorrect delivery
If you are missing one or more items, or have received a wrong item in relation to the UNIVERSE FOOD AS order confirmation you received upon ordering, you must contact us as soon as possible to customer care. The email must contain the order number as well as a statement of which item that is missing or incorrectly delivered. We will investigate and complete the order at no extra cost to you.
Once you have received the Ordered products, you should as soon as possible investigate whether the cart is in accordance with the order confirmation. It should be examined whether the Ordered products is defective, if the products have been damaged during delivery or have other faults or defects.
If faults or defects are detected, we ask that you contact customer care so that we can arrange.
UNIVERSE FOOD AS is responsible for the products while they are being shipped. Upon delivery you must check all the items for any damages. Damaged or missing items (i.e. not enclosed within the delivery) must be notified to us within 1 hour to customer care. Please make sure to take a picture of the damage items and enclose this picture in the email or in WhatsApp.
All original packaging must be kept for inspection. If a package looks damaged do not sign for the delivery without checking the product. If the product is damaged you may refuse to accept it.
If any item has been damaged in transit, please call customer care.
If on opening the package the goods are damaged, please call customer care. Please take a picture of the damaged item and send us an e-mail with the photo attached to customer service at on firstname.lastname@example.org or send in WhatsApp with the order number as per your UNIVERSE FOOD AS order confirmation.
We will seek compensation from the carrier and complete the delivery at no extra cost to you. Legislation states that this must be done «within reasonable time» which is normally interpreted that you should contact us within 1 hour after you have received the delivery of the damaged product.
Products rarely arrive damaged but speedy action helps all parties to sort the problem out without delay. We will respond and advise what course of action must be taken in these circumstances.
Universefood.no reserves the right to change the terms and conditions, including as a result of changes in legislation, at any time and without prior notice. Changes to the terms of sale will be announced and made effective from the date of the announcement. The customer is responsible for complying with the current terms of sale.
Universefood.no and all content on our website, and in our other services, is made available “as is” and without any form of warranty or secured property. We reserve the right, at any time, at our sole discretion, to stop or change the Service or its functionality, in whole or in part.
It is important for us to provide as accurate information as possible about our products. Subject to reservations is that errors (typing and printing errors) may occur, and that such errors may result in us not being able to deliver according to information provided. If this occurs, the customer has the right to cancel the order.
Information provided about the products in accordance with the Food Information Regulation (EU 1169/2011), such as nutritional content, ingredients, allergens, etc. is supplied by the individual manufacturer. Universefood.no is not responsible for any errors or omissions in the information provided. Note that all allergen information must be treated with care and only understood as a guide. Anyone who prepares or serves food for an allergic person must always read the item’s or package’s ingredients list carefully.
Products may differ from pictures and other illustrations on Universefood.no, which are intended for illustrative purposes only.
We are not responsible for content that you or other users or third parties make available or send via Universefood.no. Furthermore, you are solely responsible for the content of your customer account and for the consequences of publishing user content. Universefood.no acts only as an intermediary for your and other users’ distribution and publication of content.
Furthermore, we are not responsible for the content, services or products offered or made available on third-party websites to which it may be linked from Universefood.no.
UNIVERSE FOOD AS is not responsible for delay or failure to perform if the delay or failure is caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control including but not limited to acts of war or terror, strikes, national or local states of emergency, failure of transportation facilities, scarcity of means of transport, power or utility outages, earthquakes, or other natural disasters.
All content on Universefood.no belongs to UNIVERSE FOOD AS, and is protected for example copyright, marketing and trademark laws. This means that it is not allowed to use our name, logos, screenshots, or other images that is available on Universefood.no without our permission. Furthermore, in each case, trademarks, company names, trade names, information about products, including mention of the products and weight, images / graphics, design and layout and other content on Universefood.no, downloaded, copied or otherwise used, unless express written consent is given for such use by UNIVERSE FOOD AS.
